Wearable Berries collection out in Norwegian shops!
Grey Pearl studio offers bespoke designs to private and professional customers and had its first go at professional customers when the biggest Norwegian jewellery retailer approached in 2013. The eye-catcher was Weaerable Berries (Bœrbare Bœr) a bracelet colection created for an exhibition that same year.
The process included sourcing production and material and took more than a year. Finally in 2015, Grey Pearl's Wearable Berries are available to a larger public, at least in Norway. Early spring 2015, the Norwegian jewellery group Panorama launched a generous collection of 15 designs, available in their shops, Juvelen and Gullfunn, spread all over Norway.

Title: Arm-ready flower memories.
The 2014 exhibition was colored and inspired by wildflowers well known in plant hardiness zones 3-9. These first signs of summer merged with sweet childhood memories - expressed in a rich selection of bracelets.
Five colour themes emerged, inspired by the flowers from earliest spring through summer and autumn into the first days of frost.
When spring is still uncertain and dull brown, the warm blue Hepatica flower heads peak through tawny winter leaves. Intensely blue, and pleasant colour shocks to the senses after a long winter in black and white. Next memory, the fragrant violets I used to find in a mossy forest glade. Their sweet scent blends with the fragrance of the moss; a perfume I wished to wear. Then the summer explodes in the wildflower meadow. Sunny and bright, choose and pick. And before we know it the colours change again. The purple heather in the wild gets a backdrop of fire, with red golden moors. As a last pale afterthought; the stubbornest lingering garden flowers after the first frosty night. Subtly bleached - like they have been sugarcoated. To quote Ralph Waldo Emerson: "The earth laughs in flowers" |
Grey Pearl studio has a new home.
Grey Pearl has moved to Zurich - since Tittin moved here in spring (2015) Grey Pearl studio also has a new home.
Now we're high up in one of Zurich's new, tall and sleek towers in the also new hip industrial area. Looking down on rail tracks and strings of wagons daily, which will probably soon turn into a new jewellery design or two!
Constantly, images of enamel are floating up in my mind.
Enamel is another childhood memory I'm looking forward to exploring. As child I was fascinated by the pattern of a small white silver heart I had. Very simple, enamel on silver with guilloché like below - but white and shimmering like snow. Guilloché is the term for the machine used to create patterns like this. Here engraved in the silver base for the enamel Scandinavian Snow is coming up I can feel.

Moments - Øyeblikk
About once a year I have the opportunity to showcase my work at private shows and gallery exhibitions. These occasions play a crucial role in the development of new collections. Meeting customers and getting instant feedback means a lot.
Named "Moments"; again nature is muse and master. Inspired by memories forever stored deep in the brain, to surface at given times, or moments. Glimpses of nature's seasonal occurrences translated into wearable art.
A moment like: The silent dawn of an unused day, rosy and shimmering. Or the frost; decorating the windows with roses of ice. Or light; the low winter sun on crisp snow. Or a sunset; a purple fire mirrored in a lake. Or an august night; by a forest lake with blue-black moonlight playing tricks on the mind. Or with a smell, like the smell of a cut lawn, and brilliant green staining bright summer clothes if you fall Or a mild breeze; willow catkins filling the air with golden dust. These are some of my moments - what are yours? |
