Grey Pearl studio squirrel designs - one of a kind for the curious
Squirrels are playful and curious.
Their chasing and diving is risky and bold and it looks like they'll never reach the far-off branch they head for. Yet, in the very last second, they do. In some designs I take after squirrels; I go out on a limb, risking it. These designs are for the curious who like to take a chance - just like squirrels. |
Inspired by trophies - these are for non-hunters
It started with the "Talking Pieces" above - I had some tiny animal heads I never thought I'd use until one head ended up on top of a flat wooden disc. Now it looked like a miniature hunters trophy. Wearing it as a necklace makes it a real talking piece - or a trophy for non-hunters.

These wooden designs belong in the woods with squirrels in the trees.
Take these wood adornments for what they are; unpretentious, light and pleasant to wear. One of a kind pieces made of all sorts of material, upcycled, found, bought or given. Necklaces, brooches and rings. These dsigns haven't been tested. But I show them anyway, since I can't know what others think before I let you have a peek. |
These are my tests, whims and little outbursts of creative curiosity.
Like; can I drill a hole in a stick to make a ring? Will that work? Will anyone like to wear it? What if I use gold leaf on raw wood? Will it show, will it hold? Would other people want to wear a 'life compass' made of driftwood and plastic? See, that's for the curious to find out. |
Odd designs belonging nowhere may end up on these pages as well.
The ones I really don't know how to judge. You can help me do that by leaving a comment and let me know what you think. Middle row, two brooches, plastic junk and driftwood. The branch bracelet, bottom, "From grey to green" have "beads" made from a driftwood stick, cut, drilled and dyed. The charms tell a story. |
